Joanna Baird is a Masters-level therapist with extensive experience working with children, adolescents and young adults in both the outpatient mental health setting and college counseling setting. Joanna graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 2004 with a B.S in Psychology. She went on to obtain a Masters of Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, enrolled in a dual-track for Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a lifetime member of Psi Chi, the national honors society for Psychology, and has been certified in Prepare and Enrich pre-marital and marital counseling.
While obtaining her Masters, Joanna worked as an outpatient clinician at Health and Education Services in Ipswich, MA where she gained experience conducting intake and evaluation services and providing individual therapy while utilizing CBT and Solution-Focused therapeutic models. Joanna also served as a counselor at the Endicott College Counseling Center working with college-age students dealing with issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Abuse, OCD, abortion recovery, Eating Disorders, self-esteem, relationship issues, and stress management. In addition, Joanna led an Eating Disorder and Body Image therapy group for college-age women, facilitated monthly stress management workshops, and co-taught alcohol awareness classes during her time at Endicott.
Joanna has had extensive coaching experience while working as a certified gymnastics coach for IRGA, as well as through her work at Killington Ski Resort as a certified snowboard instructor. Joanna works well with athletes and hopes to incorporate her coaching experience into her mental health background by obtaining her Professional Life Coaching Certification.
Joanna feels passionately about improving the mental, spiritual, and physical health of clients who seek help at Thrive by incorporating a whole-person approach to wellness.
